The Edison Gardens kids and volunteers were blessed with beautiful weather for a joyful outing to Kids Kingdom, and the new playground, at Potawatomi Zoo.

We visited Kids Kingdom, while a group of volunteers set up a picnic area for us, and grilled hot dogs. After lunch, the kids blew bubbles, played Frisbee, and tossed footballs around. After we cleaned up the picnic area, we all headed to the new playground, which had just opened up the day before our visit. Unlike the wooden playground at Kids Kingdom, the new playground is constructed from bright, metal tubes with a cushy flooring.

***EVERYONE*** the adult volunteers, the oldest and the youngest kids, ALL had joyful smiles on their faces!! It’s not everyday that you see that much child-like joy!!!

We had 33 attendees, which included 21 guests, 10 volunteers (including 1 volunteer child), and two Edison Gardens’ parents!

After we returned to Edison Gardens, we celebrated July birthdays by passing out Build-a-Bear, and Toys ‘r Us, gift cards.

The June Event for Edison Gardens began with a cook out lunch. Before, and after lunch, the kids and volunteers played basketball on the freshly painted basketball court. Thank you, MERGE!

DC Curry then shared a special message with the group about how he came to know, and love, Jesus! After DC’s message, every child received an autographed football from him!! We also celebrated May and June birthdays by passing out Build-a-Bear and Toys ‘r Us gift cards.

We had 37 attendees, which included 16 guests, 17 volunteers (including 3 volunteer children), and four Edison Gardens’ parents!
