The May Event for Edison Gardens began with the children making a Mother’s Day card for their Mom. They personalized them with ribbon, stickers, tiny silk flowers, and their very own messages of love and thanks! Card-making was followed by lunch, which consisted of Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets and fruit salad, Pringles, colorful Little Debbie brownies, Gatorade and water. After lunch, we headed outdoors with trash bags, to clean up the playground and surrounding area. The youngest children seemed to enjoy this the most! (Smile) One of the parents also joined in the clean-up!

While all of this was going on, Dean worked on the landscape area by the two front entrance signs to Edison Gardens. He weeded and pulled up grass, put down fresh top soil, and planted three daylilies in front of each sign. Kevin helped Dean add fresh mulch. We are also planning to have the kids plant tulip bulbs in the fall! Next time you drive by Edison Gardens, don’t forget to take a look to see how nice it looks!!

We had 34 attendees, which included 20 guests, 12 volunteers (including 3 volunteer children), and two Edison Gardens parents!

After clean-up, each family/apartment took home a beautiful, blooming pot of flowers to decorate their front porch as a Mother’s Day surprise!
